Nancy K. Phillips, BBA, MPA, CFP®, CPA
Nancy K. Phillips has over forty years in the tax, accounting, and financial services area. She started her CPA practice, Nancy K. Phillips, PC, in 1985, concentrating on complex tax areas. She is now affiliated with Peak Tax Advisors, LLC. She has a broad financial background, having helped families with the tax laws and IRS tax filings after a family member has died. She also works with complex tax returns, small businesses, estates, and family groups with tax planning and financial planning decisions. Additionally, Nancy has provided extensive litigation support for attorneys in the areas of trust and estate taxes, embezzlement and tracing of cash in trusts, calculation of community property after a death, and division of property in divorces. She has been listed as an expert witness in several cases. She has been published several times in professional associations’ newsletters, Dallas Women’s Magazine, and neighborhood newsletters. She received her Competent Toastmaster award in 1988 to overcome any fear of speaking in public. She is now an experienced speaker and has spoken to CPA groups, stock brokerage firms, financial planners, law firms, neighborhood groups, and accounting students at several universities. She recently presented a speech on Trust and Estate Tax Laws to the Collin County Bar Association. On November 1, 2019, Nancy K. Phillips, CPA, was awarded the Outstanding Small Business Owner award at the Altrusa International’s Outstanding Women of Today luncheon. She consistently gets about twice the continuing education necessary for the professional licenses she holds and has a love for learning. She is a mentor for others in the profession and attends CPA practice management groups on a regular basis. She served as the moderator for the Dallas Chapter of CPA’s Tax Discussion Group for many years. She is a member of the Dallas Chapter of CPA’s, the Texas Society of CPA’s and the Dallas Estate Planning Council. She previously served on the Dallas Women’s Foundation Planned Giving Advisory Council and twice on the Board of Governors for the Dallas Estate Planning Council. She enjoys training younger accountants and has performed mock interviews with students at UTD. She has trained other CPA firms in the area of trusts and estates.
In addition to her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, she is also a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and holds various other securities licenses and was a licensed life insurance agent for over 22 years. She completed an undergraduate degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington and received a Master's of Professional Accountancy (Taxation) from Baylor University. Her former work experience includes several tax seasons in the tax department of Arthur Young & Co. (now EY) and time in the tax and accounting departments of Mary Kay Cosmetics and The Associates Corporation of North America.
She was born and raised in Dallas/Ft. Worth area. She lives here with her husband. Her hobbies include travel, gourmet cooking, fine wines, and listening to classical music. She is a member of a local ladies' social club where she has served as President, Treasurer, and VP in charge of speakers. She enjoys making jewelry and has donated jewelry to numerous nonprofit organizations.
